NPR's Robert Krulwich on Intuitive Mathematics
creativelearningmsu: Last month, when Vi Hart’s math doodling video (below) was zooming around the internet, Robert Krulwich (NPR science correspondent and host of the fabulous Radiolab) made a wonderful connection.  You may have noticed she’s a touch angry about how math is taught in America. She thinks it can be done better — more intuitively, joyously. So does Paul Lockhart, a math...

Al Jazeera English Blacked Out Across Most Of U.S. →
hitrecordjoe: We Americans are giving the Egyptian government shit for trying to block information.  Meanwhile, American cable companies refuse to offer this world-renowned news source, which would be the best place on TV for us to see what’s going on over there. That is precisely why I have Al Jazeera on my iPod Touch.

I am in the arts, and love what I do, but I am nevertheless proficient in the sciences.  This finding is something that should be remedied, as we cannot continue to be innovative with out population of scientifically-proficient workers diminishing. Don’t get me wrong, this is in no way a nationalist plea.  I would say the same of any population falling behind.

Not a good time for this
I woke up with a killer headache and my reading list for this weekend includes: Surfacing by Margaret Atwood Areopagitica by John Milton short stories by Nathaniel Hawthorne, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Alice Monroe a few histories of John Milton roughly four theoretical articles I may need something more powerful than Aleve to get this thing knocked out.
