Bill O’Reilly - The Daily Show with Jon Stewart - 9/27/2010 - Video Clip | Comedy Central Since I jumped back into school, I don’t find as much time to watch the Daily Show, but this interview screamed at me.  You shan’t be disappointed.

Shooting at University of Texas, shooter dead →
Yet another campus shooting. Thankfully the assailant took his own life without having killed or injured anyone. Given that no innocent people were hurt, I have no qualms in pointing out that the prohibition on concealed carry on UT’s campus, indeed on many university campuses, would not have served to prevent such an incident. Just a thought.

This is an excellent list of reading list suggestions for those entering university. I might not have appreciated such a list prior to my degree, but in hindsight, I would have loved the challenges.

I was initially astonished that Kent State was going to halve their libraries collection.  Of course, as with many sensational headers, this one got it wrong.  Their motivations are entirely justified and all materials will remain accessible, just at a distance.

I do not typically go in for web petitions, largely because I have never seen one cited as proof of support or precedent.  That said, this is one that deserves your attention.  Censorship laws are not to be tolerated for any reason.

Working in tech support, I am always making the argument to our users that security is a full time job, not a one time project.  Of course, this falls almost entirely on deaf ears.  After all, if your tech support people will just fix everything back after you get infected from www dot bobsfreeringtones dot net, why worry about it, right? RIGHT?

Facebook Friend Rejects Can Still Follow You →
Don’t be fooled, you can still reject a friend request, but it is being made unnecessarily difficult to protect your account.  Just another in a long line of efforts to allow anyone to see the gratuitous amounts of person information people see fit to give to strangers.

This story is rather timely, given that my Southwest Studies course was recently talking about Estebanico from the narrative of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca.  He has been supposed to be one of the first African’s to step into the Americas.  He will just have to settle for being one we know quite well.

Games not art after all, say angry gamers →
This review indicates confirmation bias is not restricted from gamers.  Given that the reviewer did only a cursory criticism, which was met with an overwhelmingly negative response. Interpretation as art should not be viewed as less, but rather more rigorous.  In addition to that, no entertainment, regardless of how mindless, exist outside of culture and thus invites such criticisms.  Indeed,...
